PRINCIPLES BEHIND MY CRAFT
At Fed To Wolves, we are proud to be a small business, husband- and wife-owned and operated, with all leatherwork produced solely by me, in-house. Above all else, I value artistry, quality, and craftsmanship and hope that each piece I create reflects those values.
ARTISTRY
MY STORY BEGAN WITH A PATTERN
With a background in painting and tattooing, my initial interest in leatherwork was as a relaxing diversion. Through trial and error, most of the techniques I use have been self-taught. As my skills grew, I developed a great respect and love for leatherwork and found that I was spending early mornings into late nights designing and producing each piece, and leatherwork had become my primary creative medium.
Every unique Fed To Wolves design is based on my original patterns, which I hand-draw and hand-cut into a stencil. I strive to honor traditional leatherworking methods; I never use computers, machines, or cutting dies in my pattern design or production process.
QUALITY
MY COMMITMENT TO THE FINEST MATERIALS
Reflecting my commitment to quality and tradition, I source my materials – from leather, to thread, to dyes and finishes – from the most respected tanneries and manufacturers worldwide.
I choose my leather based on the beauty of its textures and colors, for its quality and durability, and for the natural patina that will appear with time and wear. I am careful in choosing full-grain hides that are vegetable-tanned using sustainable processing.
CRAFTSMANSHIP
EACH PIECE IS HANDCRAFTED WITH CARE
I believe that beauty can be found in the simplicity of craftsmanship, so I take great care in handcrafting every aspect of my pieces.
Each leather accessory I create is a labor of love. I cut and skive my patterns out of leather by hand and hand-sew every stitch. Edges are finely beveled and creased, sealed with edge dye, and hand-polished to a smooth finish. Some pieces are brush-dyed, using stains that I mix into unique colors.
I take pride in every stitch, ensuring you will own a piece that tells a story.
